Koto Sadamura

Dr Koto Sadamura specialises in Japanese art of the late 19th century. She has curated exhibitions and published extensively on the artist Kawanabe Kyōsai (1831–1889), including Kawanabe Kyōsai no chōsen: Kyōga de hiraita shinjidai (Kawanabe Kyōsai's Endeavour: Exploring a New Era through Comic Pictures; University of Tokyo Press, 2023), Kyōsai: The Israel Goldman Collection (Royal Academy of Arts, 2022), Kyōsai’s Animal Circus: From the Israel Goldman Collection (Royal Academy of Arts, 2022) and Sex and Laughter with Kyōsai: Shunga from the Israel Goldman Collection (co-authored, Seigensha, 2017). She is the curator of the Israel Goldman Collection, London, and a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Asia, the British Museum.
