Returns Policy

We really hope you are happy with the products you’ve bought from The Public Domain Review but for the instances when questions regarding the return of an item become relevant we have made this page outlining our policy.

Changing your mind

For most goods you buy online there is a 14-day cooling-off cancellation period, which doesn’t end until 14 days from the day you receive your goods. This applies to our Mugs, Bags, and Books, but not our T-Shirts or Fine Art Print products. For returnable items you will get a full refund upon us receiving the items, though do note you will have to pay for return postage costs to the UK, and we strongly encourage you to return your item via a trackable method. Refund of “returned products” lost in transit will not be considered unless proof of posting is supplied. Please email shop@publicdomainreview.org for more information

Given that the products bought in our T-Shirts and Fine Art Prints section are custom (made specifically for the image, size, and frame colour you have chosen) they are classed as bespoke goods and so exempt from the 14 days cancellation policy. All these orders are final as soon as they are placed, and for these orders we can only accept returns or refunds in the case of incorrect or damaged goods (see below).

Incorrect or damaged goods

We really hope you are impressed with the quality of what you purchase from us, and great care is taken to get your order to you safely — though we are aware that sadly mistakes and accidents do sometimes happen. In such rare instances simply email us a photo of the damaged or incorrect item and the shipping container to shop@publicdomainreview.org within 4 days of receipt of the goods. Please include in the body of the email: your order number, the shipping ID or item number, a brief description of the reason for the return, and tell us whether you are seeking a replacement or a refund.

In cases of a refund you will be refunded the full cost of the item and the cost of delivery. We will usually refund any money received from you using the same method originally used by you to pay for your purchase.

Claims of non-delivery must be made within 28-days of despatch.

A note on possible discrepancies and print quality

You should be aware that the colours and appearance of products (including images, mounts, and frames) may vary very slightly from the way they appear on the screen. Also print and frame sizes can vary slightly between production batches. For this reason, if buying unframed prints, we strongly recommend that you wait to receive your print before committing to third-party frames.

The prints we sell are based on quality digital reproductions of historical images. Accordingly, our prints may faithfully reproduce any blemishes, marks, stains, damage, inconsistencies of colour, and other similar alterations that may be present in either the original artwork or that may have occurred in the process of rendering the original artwork into a digital form. We think such marks, etc, give the pieces character and authenticity but we understand they are not for everyone so please be sure to inspect the photography of the image we provide to make sure you know what you will be getting!
